b. 1986, HK.

My name is Jamilla Wu and I am a freelance illustrator that graduated with a BFA in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts. I was born and raised in New York City from a Chinese immigrant family. A big part of me tries to merge my American culture with my Chinese heritage in my work. Most of my inspiration comes from fairy tales, fables, myths, legends, religion, and other stories with animals playing a key role. When I’m not working on my illustrations, I can be found baking cupcakes and cookies, cuddling my senior cat, or painting my nails.
